The People who inspired the Foundation

It all started with a simple question.

After watching Mark Magsayo fight on television, young kids would approach him and say, "I want to be a boxer just like you." Parents began reaching out, sharing how their children had been inspired to start boxing after seeing Mark's journey, but many didn't know where to begin. Some couldn't afford gloves or equipment. Others didn't have access to a gym, a coach, or someone to guide them.

At the same time, countless people told us how Mark's story gave them hope. They saw a young boy who grew up in poverty, overcame obstacles, and refused to give up on his dream of becoming a world champion. His journey reminded them that where you start does not determine where you can finish.

Those stories inspired us.

The very people who found hope in Mark's journey inspired us to create The Magsayo Foundation—to help more people through the platform and opportunities we have been blessed with.

Mark and his wife both grew up as athletes from a young age. They spent much of their childhood in gyms, where sports became more than a passion—it became a way to earn opportunities to compete, continue their education, and build a better future. They know what it feels like to have talent but lack the guidance, mentorship, financial support, equipment, and opportunities needed to reach your full potential.

That is why we created the Building Champions Program.

Our mission is to remove barriers and create opportunities for children, aspiring athletes, and individuals who simply need someone to believe in them. Through boxing, mentorship, education, community outreach, and life-changing experiences, we strive to build confidence, character, discipline, and hope.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to discover their potential. While our roots are in boxing, our mission goes far beyond the ring. Whether we're helping a young athlete chase a dream, supporting a family in need, or strengthening our community through service, our goal remains the same:

To build champions—not only in sport, but in life.
